Where's Adam In Halloween Town 4 - Return to Witch University?

In 2006 I was an extra in the Disney movie Halloween Town 4 - Return to Witch University. I have counted at least 15 times I appear in the movie however people rarely see me in it because I am usually on for less than a second each time and many of those don't include my face. Today I found that the movie had been posted on Youtube so I took screen shots of when I appear. When looking for me, use the picture I took of myself as reference. Look for a green sports jacket and the hat I was wearing to help you find me. Other times it will just be my face. Anyway, here are the screenshots:

I Found this blog called Portraits of the Occupy Movement where they show people's drawings of the protestors. I wanted to submit something so I went down and met the protestors. These are my drawings from a small protest in Provo Utah that happened on the 19th of October 2011 on Center Street near the Nu Skin building. The protest was pretty small, there were only five people, so I made a drawing of everyone there.

I am still seeing lots of random weird cool images on the glass around me when I shower. Usually I see a part of the image as I shower and I start to remember what I am seeing and as I memorize what it looks like I see more of the image. As I do this I am both discovering and creating because certain shapes I ignore and others I pay attention to. It's such an interesting way to create a drawing and one that never ceases to surprise and excite me.

Testimony drawings 2

Both of these drawings makes me laugh when I see them.
I came in late so I missed the point of his story where he cries into his soup but since I missed the explanation I found it funny.

The text I have written here is a summation of a ten minute story about pennies that he found all over his house and at school and then some other story about a kid who thought it was his dead dad who left pennies on the ground for him, all of that to make the above point.
This was in Priesthood, the drawing on the right is the Elder's Quorum President, I just liked the drawing.

Testimony drawings

I have started drawing people in church during testimony meeting. Some of these are exact quotes, some are quotes mixed in with summaries of the testimony and others are just summaries of the testimony. They are from when I visited DavenPort for my nephews baby blessing and from when I went to a friends ward. Oddly, none of these are from my own ward.

Comic Con 09 - Artists

I didn't take a lot of pictures of the artists I met but here are a few pitures. I really liked these oil paintings by Lark Pien, the colors were so amazing. I would have bought one but they were 75 dollars for one as they were originals.
I thought these little sculptures by Leslie Levings were awesome, they are called Beastlies

This is Hope Larson one my favorite cartoonists. I went to a panel that spotlighted her. There weren't a lot of people that came and so I sat in the front row and sat down next to Scott Mcloud (who made the book "Understanding comics) and her husband Bryan Lee O'Malley who is the creator of Scott Pilgram Of course I didn't reconize them and didn't realize who they were until Hope started talking about them and pointing to them.

Comic Con 09 - Costumes

I got back from Comic Con last night which was really cool. Usually when I go I get all excited about the panels with all the famous celebrities, the ones that take waiting in line 2 hours to get into. This year I had more of a focus and decided to go to the panels that would be more helpful in helping me get my career going and inspire me the most.
Anyway I didn't take a lot of pictures of costumed people or celebrities but here are some pictures I did take.

This Wolverine guy liked crashing pictures. He would see people taking pictures and run over and pose with the other people whether they liked it or not. I only had it happen twice to me but over the time period I was at comic con I saw this guy do it so much. He was the biggest attention whore I have ever seen at Comic Con and I find it pretty funny. If you look at the last one it looks like he is checking out the Cobra girls butt.

I thought the stringed instrument thing was pretty original.

The Sign is actually Gentle Giants I just found it funny to cut of the giants part.

When I go to church I bring my moleskin and I draw in it. I see pictures of Jesus hanging all over the place and since I got tired of people moving when I tried drawing them I started drawing Jesus. I am seeing how many different variations I can make. I scanned them and put them together into these four pages.

Shower Head experience

This morning when I was showering I decided to look for another image to draw and this time I saw a curved shape and it caused this image to pop into my head in color and everything. I drew the image and thought it was a little strange how this really clear image popped into my head and I hoped it wasn't going to happen to me or anyone I knew. Anyway I got home from work today with a really bad head ache and it made me wonder if my body was somehow warning me with a symbolic image. Perhaps I created a self fulling prophecy, who knows maybe I am just reading to much into this.

I have been seeing creatures on the glass of my shower wall, well really just shapes and I fill in missing bits and pieces and then create images in my head. I memorize the image and draw it out and that's what all of these images are from. I change little bits here and there and add stuff when it needs it. I love this though, it's gotten me excited about drawing again and I plan on making more.

My roommate Ash Ram is a fashion photographer and he lets me go to his photo shoots every now and again and so the last time I went I made a behind the scenes video.

At this point I don't expect anyone to know who this is unless you watch American Idol and even then I wouldn't expect anyone to know this girls name. Anyway, I was impressed with her singing tonight and I thought I would start drawing those contestants that I was impressed with. Maybe even as a bit of a predictor of who will do good, at least who I think will do good later on. Who knows, she may not even make the top 12 but hey it's good drawing practice.

I made these illustrations almost a year ago for a friend who wanted to make a book about dinosaurs for her niece. She wanted to place pictures of her niece on the dinosaurs or somewhere near them. For example on the Triceratops she would be riding it like a bucking bronco. I gave the images to my friend, I don't know if she ever did anything with them though. I figure I might as well do something with the images and post them here.

It was a lot of fun making this video. It took about two hours to film and a lot of sweat and three or four days of editing. It was a little more challenging than I thought but I learned a lot and if I ever make another stop motion dance video it will be pretty cool.

playing songs backwards -"Time of my life"

So I have this strange little hobby of playing songs backwards and writing down the lyrics and posting it on youtube. The strange thing that I am finding is that when you play a song backwards it never really sounds like much, you may hear a few things but as you really listen over and over you can make out a lot of stuff. This latest video of David Cooks single I did simply because I am hearing about how hot he is right now and I wanted to see if I could leech off of his popularity right now. I had no idea if it would have anything backwards but sure enough it has some pretty funny and relevant stuff in it. So did the leeching thing work? Let me put it this way, normally with my reverse videos it takes a day or two to get a hundred views and then it winds down and I get like 20 a day on average, that is for the good ones. With this one I got two thousand views in the first two days and now in day 5 it is up to like 3200, my highest video is at 3600 but that video has been up for like 5 months.

I know Christ probably didn't have blue eyes as he was not from a northern country but I have blue eyes so I thought I would be like some black artists who make Jesus look African and let him share some of my attributes. I also drew his eyebrows to look like my own. I know I'm going to hear "But Adam your drawing would have been a spot on drawing of Jesus Christ if you hadn't given him your eyebrows". Well my response to that is tough! Sometimes in life you just gotta give Jesus Christ your eyebrows and this is one of those times so deal with it.

Bored on Friday night - stop motion

I did a little research to find out what chemicals were involved in attraction with the opposite sex, everything from hugging all the way up to the act of sex. Here are some of the chemicals that play a part: norepinephrine, serotonin, oxytocin, vasopressin, nitric oxide, and the hormone prolactin

A lot of these play major parts in other functions as well such as sleep and maintenance of hydration through out the body. Some of the chemicals are responsible for feelings of bonding with others and much of the feelings associated with love. I find that interesting that much of how we respond to others is based off of a chemical reaction with in our bodies. Granted our actions effect how the chemicals are released but still.

On the bright side this is the first time I have attempted coloring the lines, does it look okay? I guess I just need to mess around with line coloring more to get the hang of it.

The Book Thief

I just got done reading a book called "The Book Thief" Well actually I listened to it on audio book in my car while I delivered pizza. Rarely does a book bring up such emotion and reflects on life and love and passion for the art and literature.

The book from the perspective of Death is a look into the life of a small girl named Liesel who lives in Nazi Germany. It may seem strange to use a time period and place of such evil and yet by using art and literature Zusak is able to show that great goodness and humanity can exist in even the toughest of times.
The book in a way was a tragic one because of all the killing that went on in World War II but unlike other tragedies this book left me with a feeling of love for the characters and a sense of awe at the writing skill of Markus Zusak.
I discovered "The Book Thief because I read a different book by Zusak called "I am the messenger" which was also one of the best books I have ever read. I would highly recommend both of these books as they are pure works of art that show how beautiful life can be even in tough times.
Rarely do I see a movie where I leave it and feel wonderful feelings of emotion and when I do these often become my favorite movies. Even more rarely is when I read a book that does the same thing and "The Book Thief" is one of those books.

At first I had some difficultly making it and was about to give up this guy walked by and asked what I was making and I told him it was suppose to be dog peeing on a the fire hydrant and he laughed and said he really wanted to see it made. This past weekend I was a caricature artist for a company party for TAHITIAN NONI. I was one of six artists and we drew people for four hours, it was actually quite fun even though I was nervous at first. The cool thing was that I totally got in the zone and found myself discovering new ways of approaching my drawings that I hadn't thought of before. It helped that I was sitting next to this girl who had a really cool style and so I was able to look at how she approached the drawings and I was able to learn from her.

I was reading about fairies the other day and I learned that they are the keepers of the earth, they encourage us and delight in us being in harmony with the earth and all living creatures. When I was reading the book I kept thinking about my friend Amber because she is a vegitarian and does more than most people I know in making the earth a better place to live and so I made a picture of her as a fairy.

Illustration Friday-Ghost
I was thinking about how the symbol for a ghost is this white rounded blob that kind of has a human form (like Casper the friendly ghost) and how a large amount of the postings on the I.F. site used that symbol. This is my attempt to make fun of that a bit.
